Beloved, I am glad to share with you today the above theme from Ps 92:1-3 and following. Indeed, God’s great works and very deep thoughts are the inexhaustible subjects of the worship of the redeemed (Ps 40:1-6). But the man who does not recognize the Creator in his works is in the eyes of God stupid and foolish. The wicked and the just bloom both. But only the second bears fruit. For the grass grows and blooms in one season, then it dries and is mowed, including its flower: Such is the fate of the wicked, they perish (1 Pet 1:22-25). While the just one looks like the palm tree or cedar of Lebanon. How long does it take to bring these beautiful trees to their full stature! But the righteous have a place in the forecourt of God’s temple and prosper there to his glory. For Psalm 93 reminds us that God’s power is older (He is “from eternity”) and greater than the power of the Enemy: The waves of the sea tell us of the turmoil of the world (Isaiah 57:19-21; Ps 89:8-10). His Word can be trusted: His testimonies are very sure. Finally, “holiness befits his home.” We can’t stand dirt or mess at home. Let’s understand that all the more so the holy God cannot tolerate sin in his house, which today is the Assembly (2 Cor 6:14-7:1).

Indeed, the eleven Psalms 90 to 101 constitute as many parts or chapters of the same small book: They celebrate the establishment of the kingdom, “the world to come”, and show the Messiah himself, Israel, his people, and the nations considering him in advance. Many Jewish writers themselves link these psalms to the “world to come.” Other passages of Scripture are suitable to prepare us for the reading of these psalms. Isaiah tells us that in the judgment the faithful of Israel will raise their voices and exult because of the majesty of Jehovah; and these psalms could be the appropriate expression of these songs of joy (Isaiah 24:13-15). Hosea shows that in a second desert, the place of the discipline of the last days, it will be spoken to their hearts; and these psalms can be the language of their consoled hearts: The valley of Acor must be given to them for a door of hope, and they will sing there (Hosea 2). For the Messiah invites his people to sing in anticipation of his kingdom (Isaiah 42:5-16). Jehoshaphat sang as he entered the battlefield (2 Ch 20:20). And in these psalms, the residue sings and rejoices in hope. Thus the sentinels of the last days sing to the hearing of the messengers announcing salvation (Isaiah 52:7-8). Having thus bound together these psalms as forming the same book, and given these few general ideas, I will briefly present them. May the meditations of the saints be encouraged to a greater extent, for their joy and progress! May our hearts burn in the company of Jesus opening before us these precious portions of the Scriptures (Luke 24:32).

This Psalm 92 is the language of Christ, son and heir of David, anticipating his kingdom, his Sabbath. But in this coming Sabbath, God’s thoughts as well as His works will be celebrated. And this will give the joy and praise of this final Sabbath a higher character than the first one, where only works  were celebrated. For the counsel of grace, which are God’s deep thoughts, gives him this character. The first Sabbath was introduced simply after the work of creation, the last will be introduced after the destruction of the enemy, as Christ also anticipates here; so that he will not be exposed to being questioned or disturbed, as was the first; but the righteous will still flourish and bear  fruit, as our psalm also declares. Zechariah, father of John the Baptist, spoke of Jesus as that “horn of deliverance” by which Israel was to be delivered and flourish. The psalmist appropriates this character (see Luke 1:67–79). But the Messiah, son and heir of David, receives the kingdom of God (Daniel 7; Luke 19), also called his Father’s kingdom (Matt. 26:29). God the Father is glorified, although it is the day of Jesus’ lordship (Phil 2).

For Jesus was anointed for a ministry of grace (Isaiah 61; Luke 4): He must be again for the ministry of the kingdom (Isaiah 11:2-10). This is the “fresh oil”. Faith, in a Mary of Bethany, made her bring this oil to anoint the feet of the Anointed par excellence and pay homage to her (John 12). Likewise the nations will rejoice him and bring him their offerings (Ps 45:9; Matt. 2:11). And here Jesus appreciates the fragrance of that precious anointing that was upon him. This psalm is truly a “hymn for the Sabbath.” For this exaltation of the Anointed of jehovah will be the kingdom, of which the Sabbath is the type and the pledge. Then the terebinth and oak, dry for a long time, will revive – will live again as in the past. Israel, after so long, will grow flowers and buds and fill the face of the earth with fruit (Isaiah 6:13; 17:6). And all this will be to the glory of God. “Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

The following verses have been compiled for your edification and grouped together for your better understanding.

It is good to celebrate the Lord:

·         Praise be to God, ordained

-With the songs Ps 9:12 Sing to the Lord, who dwells in Zion, Publish among the people his high deeds!

-With the musical instruments Ps 33.2 Celebrate the Lord with the harp, Celebrate him on the ten-stringed lute.

-Universal Ps 67:4 The people praise you, O God! All people praise you.

-Perpetual Hb 13:15 Through him, let us constantly offer God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.

-Four reasons to express praise to God 1 Pet 2:9 You, on the contrary, are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, an acquired people, that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you from darkness to his admirable light,

·         Faithfulness of God

Dt 7:9 Know, therefore, that it is Jehovah, your God, who is God. This faithful God keeps his covenant and mercy until the thousandth generation towards those who love him and keep his commandments.  Ps 36:6 Eternal, your goodness reaches to heaven, Your faithfulness to the clouds.  1 Cor 1:9 God is faithful, he who has called you to the communion of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.  Hb 6:18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may find a powerful encouragement, whose only refuge has been to grasp the hope that was offered to us.  1 Pet 4:19 Thus, let those who suffer according to God’s will surrender their souls to the faithful Creator, doing what is right.

·         Misunderstanding, examples of those who are slow to understand

Ps 32:9 Feel and see how good the Lord is! Blessed is the man who seeks refuge in him!  Ps 49:21 The man who is honored, and who has no intelligence, is like the beasts that are slaughtered.  Pr 28:16 A prince without intelligence multiplies acts of oppression, but he who is an enemy of greed prolongs his days.  Isaiah 27:11 When the twigs dry, they are broken; Women come to burn them. They were a people without intelligence: So he who did it had no mercy on him, the One who formed him did not give him grace.  Mt 13:19 When a man listens to the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and takes away what has been sown in his heart: this man is the one who received the seed along the way.

·         Fruitful life of the righteous

Ps 1.3 It is like a tree planted near a stream of water, Which gives its fruit in its season, And whose foliage does not wither: Everything it does succeeds in it.  Ps 92:15 They still bear fruit in old age, They are full of sap and green, Ps 103:5 It is he who satiates your old age with goods, Who makes you rejuvenate like the eagle.  Hos 14:9 Let him who is wise beware of these things! Let him who is intelligent understand them! For the ways of jehovah are righteous; The righteous will march there, but the rebels will fall there.

From all of the above, we note that this Ps 92 uses the names of God: Eternal and Most High; only it is no longer the secret home that only fidelity and faith know. For verses 7 and 8 show how the Almighty provides blessing and responds to faith. What is celebrated here is not the exercise of faith, under discipline, but the response to faith, announcing that Jehovah is right and that there is no injustice in him. Psalms 90, 91 and 92 together form an introduction to the great theme that follows, characterized by the expression: “The Lord reigns”. Already the power had been deployed: the perfect and final result is now expected in the judgment of all enemies, and in the permanent blessing, not simply as an object of hope, but based on the manifest intervention of God. These things are expressed in the position that the Messiah had taken in the previous Psalm, where he is identified with Israel in the last days, restored by divine power, but not yet in the full and peaceful enjoyment of god’s blessing, precisely as we have seen in Book 3. The Messiah thus takes the direction of the celebration of praise, and sees his horn raised in glory (Ps 75). But Jehovah’s thoughts are deeper. He sees from afar, he sees the end from the beginning, and he fulfills his word and all his purposes. This is what faith must remember. Our prayers are with you all.

PRAYER OF ACCEPTANCE OF JESUS CHRIST AS LORD AND PERSONAL SAVIOR

I now invite every person who wants to become a new creation by walking in the truth, to pray with me the following prayer:

Lord Jesus, I have long walked in the lusts of the world ignoring your love for humans. I admit to having sinned against you and ask your forgiveness for all my sins, because today I have decided to give you my life by taking you as Lord and personal Savior. I recognize that you died on the cross of Calvary and rose from the dead for me.

I am now saved and born again by the power of the Holy Spirit. Lead me every day to the eternal life that you give to all who obey your Word. Reveal yourself to me and strengthen my heart and faith, so that your light may shine in my life right now.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for accepting me into your divine family, so that I may also contemplate the wonders of your kingdom.

I will now choose a nearby waterpoint to baptize myself by immersion, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

All adoration, power and glory are yours, now and forever and ever. Amen!

I would be happy to respond to any questions and comments you may have, before sharing with you tomorrow ” the deliverance of the redeemed from the Lord.”

May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you abundantly.

David Feze, Servant of the Almighty God.
