Beloved, I am glad to share with you today on the voluntary entry into temptation. If we walk by sight, we can be attracted to the things of the world and end up entering more or less voluntarily into temptation.
Despite the fact that she said that God had made it clear not to eat from this tree, she let herself be seduced by the snake. She could have noticed that no animal possessed the gift of speech, especially to awaken in her heart a feeling contrary to that which she owed to her divine benefactor.
That is why she succumbed to temptation, as we read in Genesis 3.6 ” When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.”
One may wonder why Eve did not realize that something weird was happening to her, that she was going to talk to her husband first. This at least had the merit of postponing this attempt.
This is unfortunately what happens in everyday life. Indeed, people do not take a step back. And one can also wonder why Adam could also easily eat the forbidden fruit, while he still had the ability to step back, just the time to see if the fault committed by his wife could be negotiable, from the perspective of creating the possibility of obtaining from the Lord a possible conversion of sin into mercy for Eve, especially since she did not think of the fact that the serpent was lying to make her to fall, or to make her lose her privileged place beside her husband.
Where was the fear of the Lord at that moment? Yet it was the central element of the relationship between God and the first couple on earth. And what about the obedience that was expected of them?
She stopped believing in God from the moment she quickly began to eat the forbidden fruit, because by refusing to do, the snake had no choice but to leave, and the couple would have been saved.
Later on, Lot is seduced by green pastures: Genesis 13.12 ” Abram lived in the land of Canaan, while Lot lived among the cities of the plain and pitched his tents near Sodom.” The green plains caused Lot to leave his uncle Abram, because the lusts of the world are often right in our senses.
Above all, Lot did not respect the age of his uncle, because he should have given him the choice to say which land he wanted to occupy, and perhaps he would have saved those two cities that were destroyed by the Lord. This means that the consequences of carnal decisions can be extremely serious.
And Matthew 26:41 says, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
And also Luke 22.40 to recall: ” On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray, that you will not fall into temptation.”
We therefore note that dialogue with the Lord through prayer and vigils keeps us away from temptations. This is how we can submit our flesh to our spirit in order to dominate what we can see and be seduced.
So, only a daily personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ will strengthen confidence and ensure our salvation within an absolute obedience framework to his Word. We pray to strengthen everyday your personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
PRAYER OF ACCEPTANCE OF JESUS CHRIST AS LORD AND PERSONAL SAVIOR
I now invite anyone who wants to become a new creation by walking in the truth, to pray with me as follows :
Lord Jesus, I have long walked in the lusts of the world ignoring your love for humans. I acknowledge that I have sinned against you and ask forgiveness for all my sins, because today I have decided to give you my life by taking you as my Lord and personal Savior. I acknowledge that you died on the cross of Calvary and that you rose from the dead for me.
I am now saved and born again by the power of the Holy Spirit. Lead me each day to eternal life you give to all who obey your Word. Reveal to me and strengthen my heart and my faith so that your light may shine in my life right now.
Thank you, Lord Jesus, for accepting me in your divine family so that I too can contemplate the wonders of your kingdom.
I will now choose a nearby waterpoint to baptize myself by immersion, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
To you all adoration, power, and glory, now and forever and ever. Amen!
I would be glad to revert on your queries and comments as necessary, before sharing with you next week on the encouragement of people who go through temptation.
May the Lord Jesus Christ bless you in abundance.
David Feze, Servant of the Lord of armies.
