Beloved, I am glad to share with you today the above theme from Ps 62:1 and following. Indeed, this beautiful psalm is not designated as applying to a special circumstance in David’s life. As if to confirm to us “that at all times” the soul must rest peacefully on God (named seven times) and on Him alone! Precious expressions of trust, and above all precious object of my trust: Christ, the rock of the centuries on which both my salvation and my glory rest. If I realize it, I can invite others to trust in Him and at the same time warn them against any deceptive support. Indeed, whether they are at the bottom or at the top of the social ladder, men swell with the wind of their vanity and their false pretensions. On God’s scales, they will all be found “lacking in weight” (Daniel 5:22-29).
As for us Christians, let’s carefully remember the end of verse 11: “If goods increase, do not put your heart in it.” Many of God’s children, faithful as long as they had only God on whom to rely, did not stand the test of… prosperity (Ps 69:23-24). “The deception of riches” stifled the living word, which then remained fruitless (Mat 13:18-23). It is the same rejected king, the little-known Son of David who speaks here. He is happy to know God as his only sharing. He wants to have no other refuge, no other source of strength than in God. God is his rock, his salvation and his glory. His soul rests on him alone, and all his expectation is in him (Heb 10:12-13 and Ps. 110). This is a truly admirable expression of Jesus’ faith in the time of his rejection, he who, we can say, was in his day the residue. And what a pleasant incense his faith has not been for God!
For in this psalm, Jesus enjoys God as his rock (in Psalm 61, he desired to stand on the Rock); he encourages his people to have the same feeling, to stop trusting in man; and he takes back the men of this world because of their deception, their violence and their trust in false things. For his part, he learned and retained that “strength is God’s.” For God had said this once, but Jesus had heard it twice. He had received this word recognizing his absolute truth; so much his ear was open every morning to receive God’s teachings (Isaiah 50:4). Man is slower in God’s school (Job 33:14). Thus the Lord shows Himself separated from fallen man. He trusts only in God, and wants nothing but God. The devil would have wanted Him to trust in Him, and be indebted to Him, like Adam of old (Gen 3) and soon the Apostate (Rev. 13:2), but Jesus refused (Mat 4). He also came to know God’s goodness. For, although God is everything – as the faithful have confessed – yet He will give back to each according to His works. Although it is He who operates in us all the works we do, yet He will take them into account as our own, and will even reward a cup of water given in the name of Jesus.

Trust in God:

Ps 27:14 Hope in the Lord! Strengthen yourself and let your heart strengthen! Hope in the Lord! Ps 62:6 Yes, my soul, trust in God! For from him comes my hope. Isaiah 8:17 I hope in the Lord, Who hides his face in the house of Jacob; I place my trust in him. Isaiah 40:31 But those who trust in the Lord renew their strength. They take flight like eagles; They run, and do not tire, They walk, and do not tire.
· Security of the saints, they cannot falter
Ps 16:8 I constantly have the Lord before my eyes; When he’s on my right, I don’t stagger. Ps 46:6 God is in her midst: she is not shaken; God rescues her at dawn in the morning. Ps 66:9 He kept life to our souls, and He did not allow our foot to stagger. Ps 125:1 Song of degrees. Those who trust in the Lord are like the mountain of Zion: it does not falter, It is strengthened forever.

Ps 73:18 Yes, you place them on slippery paths, you bring them down and put them in ruins. Pr 23:34 Thou shalt be like a man lying in the middle of the sea, Like a man lying on the top of a mast: Jer 23:12 That is why their path will be slippery and dark, They will be pushed and they will fall; For I will bring misfortune upon them, the year in which I will chastise them, says the Lord. Ez 13:10-11 These things will happen because they lead my people astray, saying: Peace! when there is no peace. And my people build a wall, and they cover it with plaster. 11 Tell those who cover it with plaster that it will collapse; Heavy rain will occur; And you, hailstones, you will fall, and the storm will break out. Mt 7.27 The rain fell, the torrents came, the winds blew and beat this house: it fell, and its ruin was great.

Ps 103:6 Jehovah does justice, He gives right to all the oppressed. Zep 3:5 The Lord is right in her midst, He does not commit iniquity; Every morning he produces in the light his judgments, without ever lacking in them; But he who is iniquitous does not know shame. Jn 5:30 I cannot do anything with myself: according to what I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not my will, but the will of the one who sent me. Rom 2:2 We know, in fact, that God’s judgment against those who commit such things is according to the truth.
From all the above, we note that Ps. 62 is even more the expression of trust. It is no longer the cry of an overwhelmed heart, but the gaze rises freely above, so that the heart is at peace. The soul expects God; it has nothing but Him, but it desires nothing else; it waits, and also says, “Until when?” God will certainly intervene at the right time; then we will know to whom the power belongs. This Psalm is the expression of the personal feelings of each of the saints of the residue. “How long will you throw yourself at a man?” What is the purpose of those who consult together against him…? Why do they hate Him and treacherously seek to precipitate Him from His elevation, from the place of blessing in which God has placed the faithful in Israel? But all this, I have no doubt, has a particular application to Christ as to the One who was really in this position and against whom they have used all their wickedness to make him fall from his elevation. It is also he who invites the (Jewish) people to put their trust in God, to pour out their hearts before Him, and who, placing themselves with the faithful in this position, not only finds for themselves their refuge in God, but can say: “God is our refuge” By saying “my refuge”, he shows us that he really possessed this retreat. For peoples are invited not to put their trust in those who are great and use oppression and rapine, but in the One to whom strength belongs and to whom goodness is: They can trust in Him as in a God of justice and live justly, not being seduced by the prosperity of the wicked, for Adonai “will give back to each according to his work” It is the desire of the wicked to throw on the ground the poor of the flock that is the occasion of this Psalm, because after all, the wicked have the feeling that the excellence of God is with them and with Christ especially. But it is also the expression of the faith of the faithful and a warning for the people to trust in God and not in the great ones of the earth. These are raised on earth, but true greatness on God’s part is with Christ, and with those who thus walk in fear of God and obedience to the voice of His servant. Our prayers are with you all.
PRAYER OF ACCEPTANCE OF JESUS CHRIST AS LORD AND PERSONAL SAVIOR

Lord Jesus, I have long walked in the lusts of the world ignoring your love for humans. I admit to having sinned against you and ask your forgiveness for all my sins, because today I have decided to give you my life by taking you as Lord and personal Savior. I recognize that you died on the cross of Calvary and rose from the dead for me.
I am now saved and born again by the power of the Holy Spirit. Lead me every day to the eternal life that you give to all who obey your Word. Reveal yourself to me and strengthen my heart and faith, so that your light may shine in my life right now.
